Royal Westmoreland This 18-hole championship course is one of the best of Robert Trent Jones jr.'s designs, as far as the finesse, beauty and challenge of the course is concerned, which perfectly integrates into the surrounding undulating landscape. The driving range, the sanctuary, pool and gym, and the spectacular Clubhouse overlook the Caribbean Sea. The first-class service provided by Royal Westmoreland is a truly unforgettable experience. The Barbados Golf Club On September 1st 2000 Barbados Golf Club reopened as Barbados' first public Championship golf course. The 6,805-yard par 72 golf course has been approved and sanctioned by the PGA European Tour to host a PGA Seniors Tournament in 2002.Magnificent trees give the course a mature ambience. Two lakes enhance play on five holes and create a dramatic 'Amen Corner' on holes 15 and 16. A series of coral waste bunkers carved through four holes adds to the excitement and personality of the course.Ron Kirby, one of the most respected and experienced golf course architects in the world, redesigned the course to be a fair, challenging and pleasurable walk amidst tropical surroundings. Prices are reasonable. Sandy Lane This resort has three golf courses in operation. The old course a nine-hole golf course . The Country Club and The Green Monkey. These Tom Fazio designed courses make Sandy Lane one of the finest golf resorts in the world. If you are up for another real treat, just visit the Clubhouse of the new course and enjoy lunch, overlooking green fairways framed by the blue waters of the Caribbean Seas in the back. Very Expensive. Rockley Golf Club A nicely kept nine-hole course with fairways between 170 m and 430 m long. Some of them are very narrow require a very precise game. On the other hand it is easy enough not to frustrate high handicappers and beginners. Prices are moderate, especially compared to European fees. The Barbados Golf Club, Sandy Lane and Royal Westmoreland have excellent pro shops. The combination of golf, sun and the Caribbean Sea, are the best reasons to try Barbados for a golf vacation. |
